Ingredients

60ml MOUNTAIN Barrel-Aged Gin
2 dashes Peychaud's Bitters (Angostura can be used as a substitute)
15ml sugar syrup
1 orange for garnish

Method

STEP 1
Prepare Your Tools: Before you begin, make sure you have a mixing glass, a stirring spoon, a knife, and a flame source (a match or lighter will do).

STEP 2
Cut the Orange Peel: Instead of using a peeler, carefully cut a strip of orange peel using a knife. This method preserves more of the flavourful oils in the peel.

STEP 3
Muddle the Sugar Syrup: In your mixing glass, add 15ml of sugar syrup.

STEP 4
Add Bitters: Follow with 2 dashes of Peychaud's Bitters (Angostura bitters can also be used as a suitable alternative).

STEP 5
Pour the Barrel-Aged Gin: Pour 60ml of Barrel-Aged Gin into the mixing glass.

STEP 6
Stir with Ice: Fill the mixing glass with ice and gently stir the mixture. Stirring helps blend the ingredients and chill the cocktail.

STEP 7
Strain into a Glass: Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass filled with ice. A large ice cube works well for this drink.

STEP 8
Caramelise the Orange Peel: Hold the strip of orange peel over an open flame (use a match or lighter) to caramelise the oils. Be cautious while doing this, ensuring safety first.

STEP 9
Express the Oils: Hold the caramelised orange peel over the cocktail, twist it to release the aromatic oils, and drop it into the glass.

STEP 10
Serve and Enjoy: Your Barrel-Aged Gin Old Fashioned is ready to be savoured. Sip slowly and appreciate the delightful combination of oaky vanilla and bourbon-like flavours from the gin.
